OUR STORY
Now Jack’s mum, Kate Barton, has spent most of her life in the textile world. An endlessly
creative spirit - and the person who tends to hold the whole family together - she was the
obvious person to turn to for advice when the idea began to take shape.
With her guidance, we began designing a canopy that felt more personal: patterned canvas,
beautiful colours, and a space that would feel intimate and atmospheric rather than purely
practical.
What followed was a year of sampling, refining, and travelling back and forth to our
block-printing partners in Jaipur. After countless swatches and many iterations, the first
canopy was ready - just in time for the wedding.
It worked exactly as we had hoped: a space that brought people together, held the energy of the day, and carried it long into the evening.
It was around this time that we realised there might be something bigger in this simple idea. Having been friends since childhood, we decided to build The Canopy Co. properly together.
Before joining, Joe had spent several years at Freddie's Flowers, where he built and led a highly successful UK team of canvassers. Bringing that experience together with our shared love of gatherings, design and damn good hosting, The Canopy Co. as we know it today started to really take shape.
Today, we design and supply block-printed canvas marquees across the UK - creating beautiful, welcoming spaces for weddings, celebrations and long summer gatherings.
