1. About Us
The Canopy Company supplies handcrafted canvas marquee structures to the wedding and events market across South England. Our marquees are made to order by our manufacturing partners in Jaipur, India.
By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before confirming your purchase.
Contact: hello@the-canopy-company.com | www.the-canopy-company.com
2. Orders & Bespoke Nature of Products
All of our marquees are made to order. Each one is handcrafted and block-printed to your specification, meaning every order is unique and produced exclusively for you.
An order is confirmed once you have received written confirmation from us and paid your deposit (see Section 3). We reserve the right to decline orders at our discretion prior to confirmation.
It is your responsibility to ensure that all specifications (size, colour, print, and any other requirements) are accurate before confirming your order. We cannot be held liable for errors resulting from incorrect information provided by you.
3. Payment
A deposit of 70% of the total order value is required to confirm your order and initiate production. The remaining 30% balance is due upon delivery.
Payment must be made by the agreed method. We reserve the right to delay production or withhold delivery until payments are received in full.
All prices are quoted in pounds sterling (GBP) and are exclusive of VAT. The Canopy Company is not currently VAT registered.
4. Cancellations
As all orders are bespoke and made to your individual specification, the standard 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply.
If you need to cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. The following applies:
Before production has started: we will consider requests for a partial refund at our discretion, taking into account any costs already incurred (including design, materials, and administration costs).
Once production has begun: the full order value becomes due regardless of whether the order has been dispatched. Your deposit will not be refunded.
Cancellation requests must be made in writing to hello@the-canopy-company.com.
5. Delivery & Lead Times
Lead times will be confirmed at the time of order. As our products are manufactured to order in India and shipped via sea freight, typical lead times are longer than standard UK retail — usually 10 to 16 weeks from deposit payment, depending on production schedules and shipping.
Delivery timelines are estimates and not guaranteed. We will keep you informed of progress and any changes to expected delivery dates.
Risk of loss or damage to the goods passes to you upon delivery. Title to the goods passes to you once full payment has been received.
We strongly advise customers not to book third-party services (venues, caterers, or other suppliers) that are contingent on delivery of your marquee until it has been received and inspected. We cannot be held liable for third-party costs incurred as a result of delayed or non-delivery.
6. Circumstances Beyond Our Control
In the event of circumstances beyond our reasonable control — including but not limited to supplier delays, port disruption, shipping delays, or force majeure events — we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible to discuss your options. These may include a revised delivery timeline or a full refund of your deposit.
We will not be liable for any losses arising from delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
7. Returns
As each marquee is made to your individual specification, we are unable to accept returns unless the product arrives damaged or materially different from what was agreed.
If you believe your order does not match the agreed specification, please contact us within 14 days of delivery with full details and supporting photographs.
8. Damaged or Faulty Goods
If your marquee arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible upon delivery. We will work with you to find a fair resolution, which may include repair, replacement, or partial refund, depending on the nature of the issue.
Your statutory rights in respect of faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by this policy.
9. Warranty
All marquees come with a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects from the date of delivery.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, improper storage, accidental damage, or normal wear and tear. Our canvas is treated for durability and longevity — provided it is stored correctly, it is designed to last for many years.
To make a warranty claim, please contact us at hello@the-canopy-company.com with a description of the defect and supporting photographs.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you in connection with any order shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for that order.
We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or special losses, including loss of profit, loss of enjoyment, or third-party costs (such as event costs, venue fees, or catering costs) arising from delayed or non-delivery.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
11. Intellectual Property
All designs, imagery, and content produced by The Canopy Company remain our intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing. Any bespoke design work created for your order does not transfer ownership of the underlying design rights unless explicitly agreed.
12. Privacy
We handle your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available on our website. By placing an order, you consent to our use of your data as described in that policy.
13. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. The version in force at the time of your order will apply to that order. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.

If you cancel before production has started, we will consider requests for a partial refund at our discretion, taking into account any costs already incurred. Once production has begun, the full order value becomes due regardless of whether the order has been dispatched.
Returns
As each marquee is made to your specification, we are unable to accept returns unless the product arrives damaged or materially different from what was agreed.

1. How Our Products Are Shipped
All Canopy Company marquees are made to order by our manufacturing partners in Jaipur, India. Once production is complete, orders are shipped to the UK via sea freight — the most reliable and cost-effective method for large canvas structures of this type.
We work with an established freight partner to manage the full shipping journey from Jaipur to your delivery address in the UK.
2. Lead Times
Because every marquee is handcrafted and block-printed to your individual specification, lead times are longer than standard retail. Typical lead times are as follows:
Production: approximately 4 to 8 weeks from deposit payment, depending on complexity and current production schedules
Sea freight transit: approximately 6 to 8 weeks from dispatch
Total estimated lead time: 10 to 16 weeks from deposit payment
Your confirmed lead time will be communicated at the time of order. We will keep you updated throughout production and shipping.
3. Delivery Area
We deliver to all mainland UK addresses, excluding Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. If you are unsure whether we can deliver to your location, please contact us before placing an order.
4. Delivery Process
Once your order has cleared UK customs and arrived at our UK logistics hub, we will contact you to arrange a suitable delivery date. Deliveries are made by our freight partner or a nominated courier and will typically be kerbside or ground floor.
Please ensure someone is available to receive the delivery. If a delivery attempt is missed and re-delivery is required, additional charges may apply.
5. Customs & Import
All customs clearance and import duties are handled by us as part of the shipping process. There are no additional import charges payable by you on delivery.
6. Delivery Charges
Delivery charges, where applicable, will be confirmed at the time of quotation and included in your order total. We will always be transparent about any delivery costs before you commit to an order.
7. Inspecting Your Order on Delivery
Please inspect your marquee carefully upon delivery. If you notice any visible damage to the packaging or the product itself, please:
Note it on the delivery documentation before signing
Take photographs immediately
Contact us at hello@the-canopy-company.com as soon as possible
Failure to report damage promptly may affect your ability to make a claim. Please refer to our Returns & Warranty policy for full details.
8. Shipping Delays
While we work hard to meet all estimated lead times, delays can occasionally occur due to production schedules, port congestion, customs processing, or other circumstances outside our control.
In the event of a significant delay, we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your options, which may include a revised delivery timeline or a full refund of your deposit.
We are not liable for any losses arising from shipping delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for full details.
