FAQ's
It's all a bit confusing, we know. What are they made of? How long will delivery take? What size can they go up to? What size do I need? It can be hard to know where to start. If our FAQ section below doesn't help- don't hesitate to contact us at the link above.
Are your tents waterproof?
What are they made of?
Do they have a central pole?
What about the pole plans? Can I see them in advance?
How long do they take to set up?
Our tents are all highly water repellant (tested to be non-porous after an 18h submersion test) but they are still canvas and should be treated as such. No canvas tents are 100% waterproof but these are as impermeable as possible this side of switching to PVC. For reference- we had ours up for just over 5 weeks the summer we got it (braving all elements bar snow) and it didn’t leak once!
The tents are double skinned- the outer being a hardy 410gsm cotton canvas (treated with both the above mention polyurethane along with a fire retardant agent. As well as anti-fungal treatment) and the inner being a much softer and lighter block printed cotton canvas.
The tents are all designed to ensure there is no need for a central pole, as this leaves much more room to play with layout, and allows for better eyeline to watch those dodgy dad dancers let loose..
All pole plans will be designed bespoke according to each tents' individual needs, dependant on the size/location of openings etc. However we will of course be providing pole plans to all customers once orders have been confirmed (and therefore once the factory have had the go-ahead to get designing..)
Tent erection time/number of people needed obviously depends very much on the strength/competency of those involved, as well as the size of the tent in question. For reference though- our factory advise roughly 4-5 hours using 6 people for the 8m x 12m, and 2-3 hours using 5 people for the 4m x 6m.
Are they all made of one big piece of fabric?
Storage wise they are broken up into 10 pieces overall- the outer is made up of a "lid" with 4 individual sides, and the inner is made up of the same (with one attaching to the other, and then to each other during the put up/down process). This makes the whole thing easier to dry in its parts (Critical for storage).
Guy ropes?
In terms of guy ropes there are 4 provided in total (one for each corner) though the structure itself is sturdy enough that you almost don’t need them!
What are the poles made of?
Steel! They’re galvanised to protect against rust so they last as long as possible and are designed to be strong enough (and heavy enough) to not need a central pole of too many guy ropes whilst withstanding winds & rain!
Storage? What do I need to know?
How much storage space do they take up?
What about doorways?
How much do they cost?
Can we change the colour/pattern?
Are the sides removable?
The most important thing is that they are dry when packed away. This is to prevent mould and mildew appearing. All of our tents are treated with an anti fungal spray- but proper storage ensures that you'll have a beautiful clean space to use for years to come!
Each tent obviously takes up a different amount of space so it’s difficult to say exactly how much until it’s made, but for reference: our 8mx18m took up roughly 2m x 2m x 1m of space with the longest pole measuring just over 5m.
As with most other parts of the design process- it's really up to you where you put them/how many you have. We recommend considering where you might erect your tent first, from there you can work out where the flow of traffic may come from/go to, and the size of the entrance needed.
Each tent is designed bespoke, so the honest answer is that it varies. But to help you get a rough estimate- the largest we designed last year came to roughly £9,000 and the smallest (a tiny 3m x 3m) came to just over £1,000
You can. Both the print pattern colour & the colour of the canvas itself are customisable. However.. It's worth noting that the pattern we have designed took a lot of colour experimentation, with swatches being sent back and forth for months until we got to the right one. So unfortunately there will be an added cost for any colour/pattern alterations. It's equally worth noting that changing the canvas colour to too dark a colour can affect the amount of light that enters the marquee. But anything is possible...
They are! All 4 sides are completely removable, so you can play with different variations as you please
